West Point Bridge Contest 2008

The West Point Bridge Contest for 2008 has started.  This is a chance for you to show the Post you are a great engineer.  Check out http://bridgecontest.usma.edu/ to get the software. You will have to register with the contest to submit a design. The contest will run until the middle of May.

We have set up a local contest for Explorer Post 1010.  Our code is LMC13A. Here is how you get started and join our local contest...

(1) Participants in our local contest must register for the West Point Bridge Design Contest at http://bridgecontest.usma.edu/login.htm. Use "Start the Registration Wizard". You can register as a single person team, or as a two person team.

(2) On the final page of the web registration system (the same page on which teams are asked to provide their e-mail address and password), contestants will see a text box labeled, "If you are participating in a local contest organized by your school, a local engineering association, or other organization, enter your Local Contest Code here." Contestants should enter the Local Contest Code in this text box. Our code is LMC13A.

(3) The website will check that the code is a valid one and will post a confirmation on the Team Home Page.

(4) If a contestant has already registered and did not enter the Local Contest Code at the time of registration, he or she can add it at any time by logging into the Team Home Page.

(5) When you design a bridge, you will have to enter our code (LMC13A) to get the special bridge situation for our contest.

(6) After you design a bridge, you will need to save it as a .bdc file. You then login at http://bridgecontest.usma.edu/login.htm and upload your design.

(7) Once our contest is underway, you can view your own Local Contest Scoreboard on the following web page: http://bridgecontest.usma.edu/standings/local/LMC13A.htm.

This scoreboard will be automatically updated at least every 24 hours.
